National, October 07, 2015: IndiGo, India\u2019s largest and fastest growing airline has been conferred upon with the CAPA Global Low Cost Carrier of the Year award at the 2015 CAPA Aviation Awards for Excellence, held in Helsinki, a part of CAPA\u2019s 2015 World Aviation Summit. Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President IndiGo received the award from Mr. Peter Harbison, Executive Chairman CAPA – Centre for Aviation, at a gala dinner hosted by Travelport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This award is a testimony to IndiGo\u2019s continued success and the consistent strategy that has defined its unmatched performance, year after year. IndiGo was selected by the judging panel to for its ability to thrive in an extremely challenging market. The judges were particularly impressed by the execution of IndiGo\u2019s leadership team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Now in its thirteenth year, CAPA\u2019s Aviation Awards for Excellence is one of the most prestigious accolades in the world airline industry and are a global benchmark for airline excellence. The awards are intended to reward airlines and airports that are not only successful but have also provided industry leadership in an always changing environment. A total of only eight awards were given out this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Congratulating IndiGo, Mr. Harbison, Executive Chairman, CAPA \u2013 Centre for Aviation, said, \u201cIn less than 10 years IndiGo has grown to become Indias largest domestic airline with a market share of close to 40%. Despite operating in a very challenging market, IndiGo has consistently reported profits for each of the last seven years, including a record profit in FY2015. Over the same period Indias airlines combined have lost in excess of USD10 billion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The award candidates were independently researched and short-listed by a team of analysts at CAPA – Centre for Aviation and partners at Heidrick &amp Struggles. Winners were then selected by an independent global panel of eight judges. The judges for the 2015 awards included industry stalwarts such as Dave Barger, former CEO of JetBlue Rigas Doganis, non-executive Director of EasyJet Barry Humphreys, former Chairman of British Air Transport Association and Peter Harbison.
